
18 Mar Bubble & Squeak – “the Recipe”
1 “thinly” sliced onion 3 “diced” slices of bacon 1/2 “sliced” medium head of cabbage 1/2 teaspoon paprika 1 tablespoon butter 3 cups “thinly sliced” baked potatoes (cooled before slicing) 1 cup “cubed” cooked ham Fresh ground pepper and salt to taste | Over medium heat, place a saucepan to cook the cabbage in a small amount of water. This process should take approximately 5 minutes or until the cabbage is tender. Once cooked, drain the cabbage and set it aside. Now, in a skillet, cook the onion and bacon so that the onion becomes soft and the bacon is cooked. Add the ham and cook it until it is heated through. Toss in the butter, potatoes, and cabbage and mix completely. Finally, add paprika and season with the pepper and salt to taste. The goal: cook until the bottom is brown and then turn or flip the mixture and brown again. |
