Fall Into Winter, Crockpot Style

Fall Into Winter, Crockpot Style

That time of year is upon us once again. With Halloween behind us, we now look forward to “the holidays” and New Year 2012. Wow, I can’t believe how fast a year goes by!

For me, there’s nothing better to warm one up on a cold and blistery winter night than a hearty, healthy, and savory soup, stew or delicious homemade chili. All of these scrumptious dishes can be made simply with a Crockpot and for variety and personal dietary preferences you can always substitute beef for poultry or make yours completely vegetarian. One thing is for sure; the beloved Crockpot favorites always seem to warm one’s heart and soul after a long day and say “welcome home”!

Crockpots or slow cookers (as some like to call them) are relatively inexpensive and are a blessing for any busy household; the key is to buy good quality ingredients and prepare the night before so you can put everything in the Crockpot in the morning; click start; and head out. I find that the lower and slower you cook your meal in this beautiful invention, the better it tastes! When you return home there is a hot and nourishing meal waiting for you, not to mention the smell of a “home cooked” meal infuses the house; side note: if you have an indoor pet, prepare for goofiness, can you blame them?
